There has never been a better opportunity to make money online then there is today. Furthermore, it has never been easier for you to have an online presence.

When we started our marketing online you only got free traffic if you were listed on the first two pages of Google. An alternative was to do pay per click on Google and have prospects find you through your advertisements.

Pay per click advertising for our two best keywords cost twelve-dollars and fifteen-dollars per click, respectively. It is clear to see that one could quickly run through thousands of dollars advertising on Google. We were just starting our business so the idea of spending thousands of dollars in paid advertising wasn’t practical. Our only solution was to work hard at SEO, and after 6 months we found ourselves in the top four positions on Google for our most sought after keywords. It was unheard of for an online business to achieve such high ranking in six months eleven years ago, but today we see many businesses achieve that in a matter of days.

Ranking on Google is not nearly as important as it once was because of the multitude of other ways one can discover your website on the internet. {They can stumble upon you through blogs, social networking sites, YouTube, inexpensive advertising, and a verity of other paths.}

In fact, at a Jeff Johnson seminar I attended, Jeff produced a video to promote a popular digital camcorder and ranked on the first page of Google by the end of the seminar. You can find a verity of very instructive internet marketing videos by Jeff Johnson on YouTube.

Today, has a greater number of searches done daily than Google, and it didn’t even exist eleven years ago. How does that fact influence any strategy you construct to market your online business? If you have an online business, you want to be on Facebook.

Eleven years ago, you had to know HTML code (Hyper Text Markup Language) to construct a website to have an online presence. Today, you can create a blog on many Web 2.0 sites and without any technical programming background. You can put up your marketing page, monetize it and start marketing online in a day.

Eleven years ago only a fraction of the world’s population was online. Now there are 1.73-trillion people online. In other words, one out of every four people in the world is online. This is a huge market, no matter how you slice it.

It is my opinion that there has never been a better moment in time to make money online by starting an online business than there is today. The only question is: Will you seize this enormous opportunity and claim your share of the market?
