Features Your Website Must Have to be Successful
Don’t focus only on the home page, title, tags and keywords:
The first step to successful sales on your site is to make sure that when visitors visit your site, they can easily find the products they were looking for. Of course, search engine optimization and better rankings can’t keep your customers on your site or make them buy. There are several programs available to help you increase the traffic to your site, but that is something to be discussed at a later time. However, you can click on one of these links to: learn how to get free site traffic; learn how to increase traffic to website; and more information on how to get web site traffic. After having attracted a visitor to visit your site, you must now ensure that he/she gets interested in your merchandise or services and stays around to do more shopping or return often. Motivate him/her to buy the product or service by providing clear and unambiguous information. If you sell more than one item or service, the various merchandise can be on different pages of your website, but make sure that there are clear links to help guide the customer to ALL goods that you offer and they might want to purchase. By providing clear and easily navigable links, the visitor can easily link to each of the pages necessary for the material they are looking for.
Understanding Your Target Customer:
Without understanding who your customers really are and what they are looking for, it will not matter how well your website is designed, or high your search engine rankings are. You will simply not get anyone to buy and therefore, your online business will not succeed. An online presence in the form of a website can be either an extension or even a replacement for a typical “brick and mortar” business. One of the great qualities of a website is that you can get input from your clientele through the use of online surveys or questionnaires or simply ask them to provide their name and email address so that you can email them surveys, newsletters and updates about your products, etc. Ask them about their choices. What is it about your products that they like (or don’t like). Would they like to have discount coupons for your goods? Are your prices consistently lower than others? Are your shipping costs less than competitors? How about customer support? Are your responses to questions timely? Are the descriptions for your merchandise clear and completely define what they are buying? Your return policies and guarantees better than your competitor’s? The great thing about an online business is that you can ask your visitors to fill out simple contact forms that will provide you with their, name, address, email, age, gender, and shopping preferences and interests.
Does your website tell your clients how to contact you for questions or problems?
When you sell from a website, your clientele can buy your products 24 hrs a day and also your customers may be from other states that are thousands of miles away. You should provide a link on every page to a contact page that gives your clients your complete mailing address, telephone number and email address, or better yet, provide an online contact form that they can email to you directly from your site. People may need to contact you about sales, general information or technical problems on your site. Also have your email forwarded to an alternate email address if you do not check your website mailbox often. When a client wants to make a purchase online, provide enough payment options like credit card, PayPal or other internet payment service.
